Life change - Abstract
Senryu, a form of poetry circulated among Japanese people, is witty and humorous. Every year, Japan holds different types of senryu competitions. Among them, the Salaryman Senryu Contest, run by Dai-ichi Life Insurance, has been held for 35 sessions so far. Senryu is closely related to the current political changes and people's lives. In December 2019, COVID-19 broke out, and the world began to enter the epidemic era. The main content and language characteristics of senryu also changed. This study takes the top-100 senryus from the 33rd (2019) to the 35th (2021) competition as an example to analyze the writing characteristics of the senryus written by the salarymen in the epidemic era, to feel the changes of their life patterns, and to explore how they express their hearts through the senryus.
